PC maker Lenovo expects to grow by 25-30 percent in the current financial year due to increase in demand from education segment and large enterprises, a top company official of Lenovo said. The 40% growth was witness in October-December period alone.
Lenovo planning to manufacture tablets in India through an original design manufacturing, its India CEO and MD Rahul Agrawal said. Lenovo also planning to expand its laptop manufacturing by about 10 times to meet 50% of India's requirements by 2021.
"It has been a roller coaster ride this year, but we will grow by 25-30 percent for the full financial year if we remove the ELCOT deal. The ELCOT deal was 1.5 million PCs which has not happened this year," Agarwal said.
ELCOT(Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited) is an Indian, public sector undertaking established in Year 1977.ELCOT functions to promote, establish and run State Public sector Enterprises for electronic items. It also consider as the back office for the Information Technology Department of the Tamil Nadu Government.
"The consumer market is to be 4 million. It has been flat for the last 5 years. It is suddenly exploding because of learning from home and is growing by 40 percent" he added.
